Enschedé lends lustre to Norwegian Post Office To celebrate the 150-year use of the postage stamp, the Norwegian Post Office issued a unique stamp. This incorporated new printing techniques and was produced by Joh. Enschedé. Requirement In 2005 the Norwegian post office celebrated its 150-year use of the postage stamp. To give added lustre to the celebration the Norwegian Post Office set out on a special stamp mission. The leading designer Enzo Finger designed a stamp incorporating a wide range of printing techniques. Using the unique possibilities for combining plate and sceen printing as a basis, Joh. Enschedé won the tender to print this challenging stamp. Approach Jan-Dirk Enschedé, Marketing Manager: 'The Norwegian Post Office wanted to be involved at every stage of the printing process. As it happened we often stood beside the press together with the client and the designer, who was even more discriminating than the client. Each proof was extensively inspected. The unique aspect of this was that we were the first in the world to apply a new type of silver plate printing ink in order to give the stamp additional allure. The close collaboration was not only pleasant but also extremely informative for Joh. Enschedé.' Result The intensive partnership led to a fantastic finished product: a unique stamp that was highly regarded by collectors. Designer Enzo Finger and the Norwegian Post Office were extremely satisfied. At the start of 2005 the contract with the Norwegian Post Office was extended. The solid relationship and knowledge of each others working practices ensure that the Norwegian Post Office and Joh. Enschedé work together efficiently.
