Which security features?
The printing of valuable documents distinguishes itself from ‘normal’ printing by the use of special materials, special production techniques and special types of design. In the design phase, the aim of the security features must be clear. Does it concern a product that requires a high level of security or will a moderate level of security suffice? Does it concern a large number or a small number of products? Do the security features have to be visible to everybody, or only to a small group of people? Should there be a large or a small number of identification features? In order to answer these questions, Joh. Enschedé is very eager to collaborate closely with the customer in the design phase.
Integrated features
In a well-designed product, the security features are integrated into the design as much as possible. Especially when the general public has to recognise and verify them, it is important that the design 'invites' people to look at the important aspects.
Watermark or barcode
Banknotes, for example, have a very prominent space for the watermark. Other examples are book tokens, which contain a very striking barcode that can be scanned easily by the shop assistant, or the voting pass, which conveys the message that voting is important in a refreshing manner.
