For the Dutch book week, postal service TNT has initiated the design of a postage stamp in the form of a little book. The book postage stamp measures 30 by 40 millimetres and is completely filled with a story by the Dutch writer Joost Zwagerman.
TNT made this little masterpiece - worldwide, a book as a stamp has neve been made - together with Royal Joh. Enschedé. The idea for the book postage stamp was born 18 months ago during a symposium that TNT and Royal Joh. Enschedé organised together. Designers were asked to come up with ideas for innovative stamps and the book postage stamp was one of the results. The book week is a suitable occasion for the introduction of this unique stamp.
This secure product that was designed by Richard Huttenn has, like a regular book, an ISBN number and contains a story. The little book has a front page and a back page with the colophon. The story itself is printed on five pages and is linked to the book week gift Duel.
The stamp has a postal value of EUR 2.20 and is intended for postal items up to 500 grams. It is available as of Tuesday, March 27, 2010.
