The CollegeKids, who in daily life are students at different primary schools, were welcomed at Royal Joh. Enschedé by CEO Arie Piet in the morning of 6 June. After Arie Piet explained and described something about the past and present of the family company that was founded in 1703, an extraordinary visit behind the scenes followed. Generally no ‘outsiders’ are allowed access to the building of Joh. Enschedé because of security regulations, but an exception was made for the CollegeKids.
The Museum Enschedé and a production department for banknotes were visited. Specialised employees gave explanations on the several processes on a production department were sheets of banknotes are cut to banknotes and subsequently are inspected and packed.
An employee of the Museum granted the students a glance at the rich history of the company, her products and her position within the line of business. A walk through time that illustrated the development of Joh. Enschedé from printer of (fairly) simple printed matter, towards specialist in security solutions (banknotes and stamps) to the current supplier of broad communication solutions.
After lunch the CollegeKids went home with a head full of impressions and newly gained knowledge.
